Graduation

Yesterday marks the end of our 12 years of formal education and I have to say.. it was bitter-sweet. On one hand, I feel a sense of relieve, after being tied down to the education system for so so long. On the other end, I am not too sure how much I will miss all these. Being in a JC in comparison to polytechnic, I feel that it wasn't too big a jump from secondary school because things like donning the school attire, attending daily morning assembly, having remedial and one or more co-curricular activity are still the norms. But the one thing that's relatively different would be the school culture and the people. Along the way, I've met different types of people. I've made new friends, be it the hi-bye kind or closer ones. I've gone through failures, in both tests and exams. I've had people giving me heart fluttering moments. To sum it up, I must have felt all kinds of emotions: happy/sad/frustrated/excited/nervous. But I suppose that's what made the past 2 years extremely interesting. I've so many people I am thankful for in my JC life and I really don't know where to start..

So to begin with, matriculation group MG18: you all are the first ever bunch of people I came into contact with in school and it was just amazing how quickly we clicked, like we already knew each other before jc. I won't forget the first week we spent together, slowly warming up and forging real friendships. Though some of you has transferred out to poly, other colleges or gone to study overseas, I hope our (still alive) whatsapp group chat will keep us going :)

My orientation group (OG), which is also my class. 12A08: I must say we've grown so much since the beginning of 2012. It was extremely awkward and nerve-wrecking having to meet yet another new group of people when I was just 2 weeks into a new school life. And I still vividly remember how I whined so much about having to break apart from my MG. 12A08 I must say we weren't the most united class, with 3 distinct cliques. But early this 2013 and towards the end of year 2, I saw slight changes, slowly but surely, we opened up a little. It wasn't exactly the best kind of change, but I am still grateful.

Civics Tutor and General Paper tutor, Mr Wahab

Math tutor, Mdm Chew

Economics tutor, Mrs Yeo

China Studies in English tutor, Mr Chay

Southeast Asia History tutor, Mr Lim

International History tutor, Mr Ng

And of course one of the most caring and motherly PE teacher, Mrs Loh

To AVENGERS: I don't know how but we naturally became a clique and please know that I am really really thankful for you all. To be honest, I know I am not the most crazy/outspoken person among the six of us, and I hardly show my emotions unlike the other two girls, but it doesn't mean I don't feel a sense of attachment to all of you. I think I am just more of a person who doesn't fancy sharing the tiniest happening in my life. I know the school year is over and we are about to take one of the most important exam in our lives. I hope that after all the papers are over we would still stay in contact and have a meal or two over the weekends occasionally.

To the boys, you guys are probably the funniest people ever. All the lame and sarcastic remarks made throughout the last 2 years. Deep down, I really want to twist your ears and inside my head, each of you has probably died at least 123456789 times. But I know when in need, you all will always be willing to lend a helping hand or ear. TJ for being the sensible one even though you like to act bo-chup. And the one who accompanied me throughout most of our free periods during mother tongue in year 1. Damien for being the not-too-shabby project work group leader and a reliable friend. And the one who gets sufficient attention from xiao mei meis for us to disturb you. Loo for being the one who annoys me constantly with all the "Adeleneee" here and there and the nonsensical starings, which I still can't figure out sometimes whether you're just fooling around or what. I can't wait for you boys to get into army and become less childish!!! The girls and I will go attend your POP :)

To the girls, my gossip buddies in and outside class. We all have our own best friends outside of pjc, but I am glad that didn't really stop us from forging nice girly friendships in school. You girls are prolly the most horny ones I know, and together with the boys, I really take my hats off all your horny jokes. Flo, you're one heck of an emotional girl and I know it hasn't been easy for you, coming all the way from the east and having to fit into a totally new environment. But guess what, you met avengers (and your dear tj) and I hope that made your school days a whole lot better. Throughout this period, you've had your fair share of heartache and I wish you'd heal from them as time passes. Remember to keep faith and always trust Him. Lastly, loser Nora (yeah I prefer your name without the 'h'), you're one big bully who verbally and physically abuses me. You would have been suspended from school if I filed an irregularity report on you bahahaha. You have a past we all know that, but jc somewhat changed you and you need to know that we'll always accept you for who you are. Ok I am not going to be mushy, you can just accumulate all my daily sweet texts over the year and read them.

To my special friend, Kimberly Kwek Kai Wei, my irreplaceable travel-to-school buddy. Thank you for being one of the most reliable friend ever. I feel guilty but I really appreciate you for being able to stand how I am late almost every morning. We've been stuck in the same class for the whole of our secondary school life but sadly in jc, we're one class apart. Maybe this is God trying to test our friendship hahahaha. Kim you are one unique girl who dreads taking pictures, wearing skirts/dresses, going shopping, taking planes to holidays but instead, you prefer watching animes and rotting at home etc. But I love you for who you are. You are a smart and hardworking girl and I know for sure that you're going to do well in the A levels. I hope that we would end up in the same university so that you can continue waiting for me all your life hehehe.

To my favourite B&H: was it not for modern dance, I suppose we would have been nothing more than school mates. It's amazing how a whatsapp group chat brought us so much closer in less than a year. Is that why people always say it doesn't matter how long you've known each other... You all are a serious bunch of people with such great passion for dance and I hope that this fire in us never dies. After A's let's just hurry get started with all the amazing classes at O School and we'll sweat it all out

To the boys
Ry, you're a late comer into the dance cca and luckily you didn't stay in ODAC or you would have missed out on so much fun with us. You're a person with such weird temper and sometimes you really feel just like a little brother to me. Well thank you for the constant "get off my back woman" and "no" texts I'll probably remember them for life. Lingkai, lead dancer for Grease siboooo. Lk you da king of swag I'll never forget your yolo is my motto. Thank you for all the joy you've brought to the group with all the randomness even though sometimes I seriously cannot... but still, swag on hansum boi. Mingxuan, my fellow history comrade in the group aka the one who's always lost in the "SEA" with me. I know you're one of the more sensible one in the group and I really admire you for that! But then, the way you study while squatting on the chair at the library is seriously something that will remain in my memory forever hahaha. Sosef, the authentic Korean. Who would have known that you're actually 20 years old because you don't always act your age around us hehe. Even if it's not on purpose, thank you for causing us so much laughter with all funny accent when you speak most of the time. Can't imagine B&H -sosef when you leave for Korea. Please don't forget us!!

To the girls
Claire tutu kuey, my first impression of you was "ok this girl and I are not going to be friends" but look how far we've come now. My dance cum study buddy. I know I nag like a mother but trust me, it's for your own good. You're a cheerful and bright girl so please think more highly of yourself, I am sure you'll shine at the end of the day, especially when we get our results! Makyyyy, first impression was when I stood behind you during one of the first few dance practices we had and I thought to myself "wah this skinny girl can dance sia". I love your koko and I can't wait to be reunited with HG again. Ame, my counterpart in dance. I am so elated that we've worked well hand in hand as the p and vp over this period of time. And I am also grateful that you see me as your pillar of strength love love. You're a really matured girl in your thinking and everything and I really want you to do well in life because you deserve it. Other than that.. just.... beware cos I will ninja kidnap baby when you're asleep in the night.

In all, just know that I love you all to the 1960s and back.

And of course not forgetting our best instructor on earth, Terence Then, the one who has taught us not only in dance but also life skills that would come in handy in life. To PJC Modern Dance Club, I have nooooo freaking regrets.

Till we meet again, all my pals and Pioneer Junior College.

Post-prelims happiness

**Before I begin, I just want to warn readers that this is a pictures heavy post but it kinda sums up my happiness over the past 6 days so let's get started!

Day 1: Adventure Cove
Right after our last paper ended on Thursday (haha as if A levels' over), Nora, Shi Yuan, Claire and I went home to change and then headed for Sentosa! It was a school day so the place wasn't that crowded. Yay to short queues for most of the rides that we took. And double yay for the life proof (a water/shock proof iPhone 5 cover) that Nora's brother lent us, which explains why we could take so many pictures in the water. We even took multiple underwater videos for the fun of it but I'm really lazy to upload them.. And the next fun part I personally liked a lot was snorkelling in the huge ass fish tank, except for the salty water we drank and the part where sy's phone almost sank to the bottom of the god-knows-how-many-metres deep pool because nora accidentally knocked my hand that was holding on to the phone. Hahaha the girls totally saw how I panicked for 3 secs under water trying to grab the phone as fast as I could. That aside, even though I've really wanted to try snorkelling out at sea, being in the gigantic tank was... close enough I suppose. After about 4–5 hours we finally got tired and decided to head back to Vivo City to satiate our hunger. Settled at Fish & Co for dinner. What's better than ending the day with some Haagen Dasz ice cream and a girly talk with n and sy (Claire went to meet her other friends). Thursday was indeed a much needed break/girls' day out.
Ok I attempted to take screenshots of the video we took underwater but got lazy halfway. Here are just 2 of my favourite anyway.

Day 2: Shikkek Korean BBQ + We're the Millers
It's my third time back at Shikkek, the Chinatown outlet, and the food never disappoints. Kimberly and I call it #meatporn hahahahaha. We had a feast on Friday, and the lunch buffet which we paid for at only $16+ per pax was so worth it. Didn't really have much to do after lunch, so we decided on an impromptu movie. And since there were about 2 full hours before our 5pm movie started, laziness got over us (as usual) so we ended up coming back to my house to chill before heading out again. Days like this are really *thumbs up*. We're the Millers was pretty much one of those nonsensical comedies but it sure did give the both of us a great laugh. This Kim (rare breed) dislikes taking pictures so these are all I've got from Friday. Cheers to our first time hanging out together on a non-school day, having known each other for almost 6 years now. Love this alien of mine.

Day 3: stay home Saturday with sissy
With all the sleep in the world, yummy McDonald's breakfast home delivery, and some of the nicest books from the most splendid writers. The picture says it all.

Day 4: Queensway + Tiong Bahru
Did some final editing and checking for my Independent Study research essay (yes the 2500 words one that I've been complaining about!!!) in the morning till early noon before heading to Queensway to meet Nora and get our work bound into some sort of a book. Ah so glad submission's finally over now!! Had the famous curry chicken and laksa before we cabbed over to Tiong Bahru Bakery. Tried the apple crumble/pandan cake and they tasted fine but I think we were both too full to finish eating everything. Went exploring after that to "digest" and we started up doing what girls do best. LET THE CAMWHORING BEGIN

Day 5: Monday
Woke up at 8am and headed back to school in the morning to submit our IS officially!!!!! YES LEMME SAY IT AGAIN IT'S OVER, IT'S OVERRRR!! Did a quick lunch with the girls and came home after that. Mondays are supposedly Mommy Day because her salon doesn't open for business, but we were both so tired that day we ended up zonking out for a good 2–3 hours at home. So yes we basically napped the entire afternoon away. See where I get my laziness from now? Hehe. Had home cooked food for dinner at night, reasons why I love Mondays :)

Day 6: B&H gathering
In case you all are wondering, B&H stands for... Beauties & the Hulks. Hahahaha it was a ramdom name we came up with when we created our Whatsapp group chat early this year. Somehow the name kinda just stuck on, especially when we wanna address everyone in the group, instead of saying one person's name at a time, B&H was a lot easier. Like B&H this B&H that hahaha. Had a cosy movie session at Amelia house yesterday + her maid cooked us yummy dinner. The hulks switched off all the lights and it really felt like a movie theatre in the living room. We watched Stuck in Love in the late noon and then went down to walk Baby the doggie and let him have his daily poo poo session. Baby had 8 body guards
The rest continued with a second movie, Kick Ass 2 after dinner while Ame and I went into the room to prepare our speech for today's CCA talk. Right, we both thought Acheivers' Night would be the last speech but... we expect the unexpected. Look at the kiddos enjoying their movie in the "living-room-cinema"
I was camwhoring with Baby 15mins before we left for home. And guess who got a kiss (more like lick) on the face.

Today:
Back to school, which was kinda boring the whole day. The past 6 days really felt like temporary liberation. I stuck with my decision to not lay hands on my books and notes at all, but the mugging resumes tomorrow. I already have my study timetable planned out and hopefully I'd follow closely to it! 36 more days to the start and 56 days to the end of this battle. Let's hang in there JC kids!
