Jubilee weekend: 30/52

Haven't had such a stress-free weekend in, frankly, a while. Thankful for the 4 days long National Day weekend because I got to busk in different people's company! The pictures below don't really do justice.

On Friday (Aug 7) noon, I met part of the DA committee to discuss about our upcoming production matters. To say the planning for a production is tedious would be an understatement - from managing people to meeting datelines for every little shit. Then again, I have to admit that I've been learning so much day by day. Don't want to go into details now cos I'll probably be writing a post when show is over so wait for it. Anyway I digress, SIM Dance Art will be having our third contemporary production on 5th September, Saturday. Proudly presenting: [ALL]titude III.

Right, so we had the meeting at Maycia's crib till about late noon and lazed the rest of the day away. Some of the other dancers came over to join us at night for dinner followed by silly games - Charades.

Spent my Aug 9 reuniting with this bunch! We planned to only have brunch at Holland Village but then ended up going for impromptu karaoke session @ Teo Heng KTV after that.

Sang our hearts out. These boys really got to maintain their falsetto voice.

On the last day of my long weekend, I spent a good quality day with the main ladies of my life.

Our last stop of the day was at Joo Chiat. While walking around this quiet estate to hunt for the famous crab house, we came across so many pretty and quaint houses. I want to live in one of these some day.

bits and pieces

Haven't done a x/52 post in awhile. I've decided to start putting together bits and pieces posts so that I can at least jot down all the happenings of my busier days. The past weeks have been so packed I think I could really use some time to unwind. August and September are going to be my busiest months in 2015 but I am also looking forward to it because I know it's going to be a good kind of busy. Even though it can get quite overwhelming, I try to take things as they come and not think too far ahead. For some reason, I've been filled with lots of gratitude lately and for that, I am thankful.

Was part of the "surprise Florence at Lloyd Inn on 15 July" team and I must say we did a pretty decent job at that. The room which her boyfriend Wayne booked had 2 levels so we were hiding upstairs in the dark waiting for the birthday girl to get back from dinner. When flo opened the door, we couldn't hold back our giggles while throwing balloons down from the top.

The day we had home-cooked dinner specially prepared by mommy mak followed by heart to heart talks.

The week momma's hands got some allergic reaction from all the hair chemicals and what not at work so she was on a week break and we spent a fair bit of time together at home (lazing our days away) and out.... shopping *hides face*

I bought a new Samsung NX3000 camera on impulse!!!! but in my defence it was a damn good deal of $399 which was the last display set at a closing down sale at Challenger. Now i'm trying to sell away my old Canon semi-pro. Anyone wants to buy a second hand camera and donate to Adelene foundation?

Got 2 free tickets to a movie fiesta so I dragged R along with me. We watched Ant-Man and it was better than expected given the bad reviews I've heard from some of my friends.

Anyway, a funny incident happened to us that day and I just want to jot it down for memory sake. We were walking around level 4 of Suntec City, roaming near Golden Village trying to kill time before getting seated for the movie. Out of nowhere, a girl approached us with Burger King coupons which could get us one free meal per coupon but then we were hesitant about it as we just ate and the coupon had to be used right away. In the end, we went along with sharing one coupon. So ok, the girl brought us to the BK counter and ordered for us. Then she brought us to this table which was the 'designated table' for the users of the free coupon. R and I felt a little weird at this point and we kept giving each other curious glance. Halfway through nibbling our fries, another random girl seated about 2 tables away from us stood up and skittered towards us. Guess what? She pulled out a bottle of cheese from her back and said with her brightest smile while squeezing cheese onto our fries "It's better with cheeeeese" R and I were like what is going on....? Before we knew it, we were whispering to each other the same thing "eh b got someone behind you with a camera taking picture of me... this is getting awkward." And yes, that's how we kinda got 'pranked' by the camera crew who were there trying to film a marketing video for BK. They wanted to capture natural reactions of consumers which was why. They got our consent and we agreed to film a few more videos of me 'taking a bite of my burger and then smiling naturally at my boyfriend after that' and another of us 'pretending to order at the counter'. In return, we were given $40 worth of BK vouchers haha it was truly quite an amusing experience for both of us.
