“Some infinities are bigger than other infinities”

Gosh, I can't remember the last time I got so engrossed in a book. Mainly cos I haven't gotten back to reading proper in a long time all thanks to my lazy vibes but ah, I loved TFIOS! And I'm talking about the book not the movie. I mean what am I even saying. All the adaptation of books on this planet will obviously never be able to beat the originality of novels that are painfully written and printed on paper. In movies, all the little details are always being compromised due to time constraints and that's just soooo sickening. It's dubious but to me, books win hands down. Frankly speaking, I am the one that needs to know every, single, detail within the novel and I tend to picture exactly what is happening inside my head as I read.

Okay... all strange reading habits aside!

Today has been an eventful Friday! Woke up bright and early to meet my bimbos for breakfast!! It's so rare for the boys to be out of army on a weekday so we jumped at the opportunity. Goodness, imagine the hassle I went through to get out of bed at 7:30am on a Friday but it was worth it. We settled breakfast at the place that never gets old — Macdonald's — and then headed back to pjc to collect our SGC, which at some point in time, I think we went a little bonkers with our pictures-taking in school when we spotted this perfect white wall. If I were my own junior, I would so judge me.

Crapped so much and laughed so hard with this bunch. All I can say is I missed being around every single one of them. Not forgetting Ame who couldn't make it and Joseph who is still back in Korea, but will soon be returning to Singapore for further studies (yay!)

Oh yes, let's all agree Ryan did an awesome job in editing the 2 absentees into our group shot hahaha all this editing is seriously his thang man.

Anyway, after the short but much needed 3 hours get together, we all parted ways and I went to meet Clara for lunch and our movie (TFIOS) as planned. Thoughts: The Fault In Our Stars was really quite a disappointment to me. Partly because I just finished reading the book yesterday so every little moment's still very fresh in my head. So when some of the super well-crafted lines given to the characters in the book itself weren't being mentioned, I just felt like something about the movie was inadequate. It wasn't altogether that terrible though, there were parts that still made my eyes a little moist (okay fine, teary). Like I loved when the eulogies were read, or when certain lines from the book were being narrated aloud in the background. And then there was the funeral part, oh my lord I just turned into the inner cry baby that I am. I seeeeriiiioussssly can't stand movies involving death. So I recommend all the girly-girls to bring sufficient tissue (team Beautex all the way because it's 3 ply thick). Or bring a friend whom friendship with you is strong enough to withstand you using his/her shirt to wipe off your tears/mucus in the movie hahaha. So that's that about tfios. For the 3rd and last time (don't roll your eyes yet), book > movie.

This is Clara and I don't think I'll ever stop fooling around her. Which two 19 years old on earth would go around Fairprice and start doing all the nonsensical stuff at the kids section? Adelene and Clara. Nonetheless.. how do you like our sunnies and under-sized Harry Potter glasses? (haha)

To explain why we were even being retards in Fairprice in the first place, well um, we were supposed to take a short birthday video for our friend at the alcohol aisle (because birthday friend turns 18 so you know, legal drinking) but we just ended up taking pictures of ourselves because the backdrop was cute. Talk about efficiency and distractions.

Benefits of being not 170cm tall? You can stand straight but still easily fit into a 4:3 dimension picture.

Around evening, I got called back to Berries to help out because one of the teacher was on urgent leave. Not that bad an end to a Friday night I suppose, getting to see some fresh and adorable faces of 4 years old!

Backtracking slightly (as usual), this week can be otherwise known as "Clara's week" rather than the mundane "week 25/52". We came to this conclusion because I spent two-third of my no-work days with her, which is actually a pretty big deal I guess? Hahahaha just kidding. It's just that I don't see her very often nowadays so it could be a big hooha. After all, she's getting a week named after her aye. Right, so earlier on Monday, we met and went to my aunty's salon to get Clara's hair rescued (it's actually not thaaaat bad) after countless postpones. I gave in to temptation and dyed my hair too! It's like this dark violet-red now but I hope the colour doesn't keep fading as I wash my hair daily. Sissy came as well and while waiting for C's operation hair rescue to complete, sista and I both did our new sets of gellish manicures at the salon and she paid for everything teehee *naaaww sisterly love*. We left the salon at almost 9pm and went to have dinner at Collins together. Am always blessed to know that I've friend/s who communicate as well as get along so effortlessly with my family members. Sometimes I feel like Clara and I must be half-sisters in our past lives to have so much of a love-hate friendship in this life.

I repeat: God gave her a height of 170cm (pffft) but I guess it's fair, cos I was granted with bigger eyes (than her) *smirks*

And I don't know what is more bimbotic; the colours of my (bright pink) nails or the fact that sissy and I stopped in the middle of a train station on the way home to snap a picture of our nails because the lighting happened to be awesome.

On the other no-work day (Tuesday) this week, I went for street jazz class with the girls as usual. We got a little ice cream treat for ourselves from our gelato girl before that and waited for her to knock off work before going for class!

Thoughts: me making an effort to draft my post(s) about my day on a daily basis as of late actually makes me feel like I have a proper social life. I hope it doesn't bore any of you out because like I've said before, this space primarily serves as a platform for myself

p.s. pardon the jumbled up days in this post. Like today is actually Saturday but I mentioned "today" in the beginning as Friday.. Fact is I actually already wrapped up this entire post last night but I knocked out before I even clicked on the 'publish' button so lets just pretend today is Friday in Adelene world

June 22, 2014

24/52

Missed out on week 23/52's update so here's a slightly longer post to make up for it. Let me just get started by saying I am (still) LOVING my part-time job for all the happy and cheeky faces I get to see at work but I honestly HATE having to wake up early for it. Thankfully it's just 2 out of 7 days in a week that I've to drag my lazy ass out of bed at 6:50am. That aside, 0 other complains. And yes, talk about work-life balance. I think I've managed/am managing it quite well ever since I'm back from my family trip. Cut to the chase, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

On one of the Saturday, I met Claire and we headed back to O School after almost 2 months. Sweating it out never felt any better, especially after all the guilty (or maybe not) indulgence in Taiwan. We went for street jazz class and my love for it is ever growing, I like how this genre is much more energetic than lyrical jazz and not too much compared to hip hop. Felt a little rusty having not danced at all after Elemental ended and my body ached so much the next day. I don't know how true it is but I vaguely recall my secondary school's dance instructor telling us about how sore muscles mean muscle growth so um... let's just take it as a good thing while I secretly enjoy getting them body aches.

Brunch date with Shi Yuan before I headed to work on one of the days. We decided to try out d'Good Café at holland village. The food is of average café food quality, to me at least, but one thing that fascinated me for sure was the concept of the place. Especially the way the lift works, we had to manoeuvre it manually and the lift wasn't even a box or something, it was just this platform that we stood on like wow talk about innovation. Errr or am I just too back-dated to not know the existence of such cool inventions?

On this other day of the same week, I met Priscilla after almost 2 whole years (coincidental run intos don't count)!!! This girl will always be special in my heart, because we became friends at the age of 6 since her mother was my nanny back then, which in my memory, kinda makes her the first friend I have in life (since I can't even remember the people around me in kindergarten, ha!) so I guess it's apt to say we're childhood buddies? From attending the same pre-school to doing(copying each other's) homework and taking afternoon naps together. What an amazing friendship of 14 years and counting. We've both grown up and apart after all the years so it was definitely nice to be able to meet and sit down to talk about old times, both the good and the bad. Speaking of which, we have so much hilarious and precious memories together I think I'll probably remember them for life.

Anyway, we headed to Group Therapy located at Duxton Hill and I give the food there double thumbs up. In addition to the good ambience, good visuals, good everything. Good Friday the 13th too maybe? Pris and I had quite some time to spare after lunch, even with all the alleys roaming, failed ootd shots and what not so we decided to change venue to Haji lane. Had a little shopping spree and ended the day with, I'll be honest, too much stalking of our primary school mates over yummylicious gelato. I could really use more days like this.

On 15 June (Sunday), it was my mom's birthday plus father's day. It must be a blessing in disguise for them to fall on the same day. However, mommy was sick and daddy was busy so both celebrations got postponed. Nevertheless, HAPPY 46 MAMA YOU WILL ALWAYS BE 18 AND CHIO IN MY HEART JUST AS YOU WISH HEHE I LOVE YOU MUCH MORE THAN WORDS CAN EVER EXPRESS.

The next day (Monday), the queen decided she wanted to get a hair cut all thanks to the killer weather these days. So we made an impromptu trip down to my aunty's salon after lunch. Here's the end result and I wouldn't stop teasing her that she looks like a mushroom hahahaha I'm the best daughter anyone can ask for right.

On Tuesday, I met Claire (again?! *rolls eye* kidddding tui i heart u) and Amanda for street jazz class. Tuesday's class was generally more enjoyable as compared to Saturday's one in my own opinion. I guess it really depends on the instructor. Think I might want to stick to Tuesdays or maybe do lyrical jazz on Mondays every alternate week. Ah.. decisions decisions.

p.s. the 1st picture is basically Claire and my friendship summed up in a picture; from rolling our eyes simultaneously to the hysterical laughing over i don't even know what in a mere time span of 3 seconds HAHAHA

p.p.s the 2nd picture was the only decent group one we took (obviously too much darkness in one shot, tsk).

On Friday, I went to BBDC and guess what!

Yours truly is done with her final theory test hip hip hoorah. Am feeling quite stoked about starting practical lessons soon even though I think I might freak out a little when lessons actually commence but I still cannot wait!

After my test, I met Kennedy for some Dailyscoop (my love for lychee martini ice cream will NEVER die). Gone were the carefree days where the both of us café-hopped aimlessly and watch our money grow wings but it's always nice seeing a good old pal after so long and hearing about each other's life, or more like I listened to his past+current girlfriend/s woes hahaha. Funny times.

We parted ways in the evening and I met the ladies for mommy's belated birthday dinner at Saveur. I'm not even exaggerating but we waited for more than an hour to get seated. Honestly, I was getting rather annoyed at the waiting time but then again, it's French food at super affordable prices we're talking about so what's not to love, all annoyance aside as soon as the food appeared in my face. Uh huh that's how much of a food glutton I am in case you all are wondering. We ordered quite an abundance of food for 4 pax given that most of the dishes were served in small portions *slurps* Saveur is located at Purvis Street, just right behind the National Library near Bras Basah area. They also have another outlet at Far East Plaza. I think it's really worth giving a try, would go back for some smoky salmon the next time round!!

Okay continuing... On Saturday(esterday), as much as I had trouble getting out of bed without snoozing my alarm more than twice in the morning, I looked forward to meeting my fav. girls for dinner after work. Perks of a Saturday. But in the end, elaine couldn't make it so it was just left with sj and i. We still had a short but good time though. Settled for dinner at Star Vista because I've been craving for the Japanese spaghetti there for 2 consecutive days. Me loves their cream-based spaghetti so muchie!!! Sponsor me please Yomenya Goemon I'll be your ambassador for as long as I don't get sick of food. Both of us also had our virgin squid ink pasta experience lol! It wasn't anything phenomenal in my opinion but it certainly tasted better than it seems. And bottom most is ma gurl lookin' so fine in her new glasses but sorry boys she is taken hehe (not by me obviously).

If you haven't already noticed, we started camwhoring with my phone and her fisheye lens outside this electrical appliance store which has pretty damn perfect lighting. Nevermind even if we got judged by the people working inside because GIRLS WILL ALWAYS BE GIRLS. Ain't nobody got time to care.

x

That's about what I've been up to for these past 2 weeks or so. So glad to have finally spent time catching up with all, if not most of the anchors in my life. It's getting increasingly difficult to make schedules meet so I really treasure the time I get to spend with people I don't see every now and then. I might need just 48 hours a day so that I can allocate time decently, oh well.

And uh one last rant before I go. The sun has been ridiculously merciless lately I swear. The previous day was a crazy 34°C?! I feel like I'm walking around in an oven — Singapore — whenever I'm not within the comfort of airconditioning. Really could use more rainy days till the weather gets better. Please stay hydrated everyone and don't fall sick. I'll be back with more soon (probably some photo diar/ies finally?)
