Thank God It's Fridaaaaaay! I love Fridays they are easily my favourite day of the week because 1) i don't have work and 2) this means sleeping in hell yeah *throws fist in the air* I am typing my second post of the week so i guess you people can safely say that the hardworking side of me hasn't been slacking off this week. Well, today has been relatively productive even though I literally had to drag myself out of bed at 11am to make it so. Washed up and headed out to get some pictures developed and also grabbed myself brunch. I also re-watched the movie Wild Child for probably the 4th time now while hand making a belated birthday card for a silly goose. That's what a usual Friday consists of (food + laptop + movies).
Now moving on... ARE YOU READY? ARE YOU WITH ME? Let's get started with what this post was originally meant for, with some pictures spam before i get all sentimental and start talking about how much of an amazing journey Elemental (an annual concert held by pjc) has been! So early February this year, some of my batch's dancers came together to form an alumni team after being approached by the teacher in charge of dance. Boy were we all gratified that we could still play a part in performing for elemental despite having graduated from college. After much discussion, we eventually decided on somewhat a high school musical theme (which explains our attire in the later pictures)
p.s. i'll try to place the pictures in order as much as possible so please don't mind if they still seem a little jumbled up.
We kick-started our journey by cracking our heads in search of appropriate venues where we could rehearse. Never thought it was going to be so crazy, moving from place to place every week. Booking a dance studio actually cost a bomb in case you all have no idea. So we first started dancing at open areas like Scape:
then thankfully we got to book ridgewood condo's dance studio at an affordable price yay! that's my "i'm on cloud nine" face for you all

the "OH MY GOD IS THAT HIM" moment running into wahbanana's actor max after self practice
Parkview apartment's function room feat. makkie and i in our coupie wear. i look so comfy like i'm ready to go to bed anytime yes you may judge me i was feeling lazy that day

As it got nearer to the day of the concert, we had to start hunting for our costumes and trust me, it was so tedious. But taking into account how much fun the process was with my bimbos, i could really let all the exhaustion pass. Up next was full dress rehearsals both in school and at the concert venue itself. Rehearsals tend to take up almost one full day (yeah, urgh) but we would always make the best out of them with each others company. What more when there are a few of them in the group who cracks really lame/entertaining jokes...
do you all realise we are actually copying our own poses on the wall at the back teehee
protecting our skin-sensitive princess from the sun as we move from venue to venue
waiting... well it just means more time for camwhoring

us with our pretty cool backstage passes that says "artiste" hehe
LO AND BEHOLD. It's finally performance day!!! This year round the school decided to have a matinee (2pm) show on top of the usual night concert so it's double the happiness for us cos we get to show off our dance twice hahahaha. Anyway, pictures from post-matinee show!

here's a special dedication for ry ry, for bearing with my entire body weight (for the last pose of our item) but on the good side, i hope it was good pre-army-training for you hehe

with most of our juniors after the matinee show debrief. i loved their item!!! it was based on a tourist concept whereby the kiddos were supposed to go to Singapore but they ended up in taiwan, united states and bangkok respectively. The dance is both captivating and comical. I always feel so proud of the juniors, don't think i'll ever stop feeling like a mother of the dance club *cues withdrawal symptom* *sobs* where them tissues at?
So after the matinee show, we had like about 4 hours to spare before the second show. What does this calls for? More. Pictures. Plus a shitload of time for us to touch up our makeup slooooowly (and then take more pictures). The lights around the mirrors in the dressing room made everything seem so dreamy, i lived my fairytale dream for a good short while

Claire's attempt at trying to make her hair curly.... which obviously did not work out haha! it gave everyone (me in particular) a good laugh instead.

Lots of backstage selfies in the midst of the concert + some final moments on stage:

-whew ok this post is getting a little longer than expected but stay with me! almost there-
Post-night show, which is also the part where everyone started to feel the withdrawals. Yes, like right after it ended we all felt sad already. It always happens after a performance/ competition i can't even explain why. On a side note, I hope everyone who attended Elemental enjoyed the entire concert. It means a lot to the performers for you all to witness what we wholeheartedly dived our hearts into. And we're so thankful for everyone who came to show love and support. WISH I COULD GIVE ALL A BIG BEAR HUG

To sum things up, i must say that the past two and a half months have not been an easy feat at all, especially in the initial stages. Despite us all being individually busy with our own schedules, somehow we still managed to make things work. Yes, it took a hell lot of time and effort to settle on the dates/venues/money for self practices and also the few rounds of costume hunting as the rehearsal date got nearer. Along the way, there were also people who dropped out due to uncompromising schedules but i choose to overlook all these minor setbacks because at the end of the day, what really matters is that the remaining 9 of us managed to accomplish so much and what more, in such a short time span. Elemental may be over but it seems like the joy and feelings from the past 2-3 months will stay with me for a long time.
This post got me feelin' a little emotional and I am not even involved in the dance! I'm so glad everything turned out great battling against all odds :) and you're such a cutie xx
